Lectures, Workshops, and Classes for the 2011 Cruise

Lecture 1: Heart Teachings on the Dharma Path
The essence of spiritual practice is awakening to our original wisdom, beyond the confining delusions of our cultural conditioning. The foundation of this awakening is practicing mindfulness and compassion. Join author Will Tuttle, a former Zen monk and Buddhist practitioner for over 30 years, in a provocative and insightful exploration into the connections between spiritual practice and our daily lives, focusing especially on conscious eating. Building on his discussion in The World Peace Diet of Buddhist practice and universal spiritual teachings, Dr. Tuttle will be going in greater depth into these ancient teachings that clarify our understanding and positively transform our lives.

Lecture 2: Creating A New Culture Of Peace
Dr. Will Tuttle will present the main ideas in his groundbreaking best-seller, The World Peace Diet. It has been called one of the most important books of the 21st century: the foundation of a new society based on the truth of the interconnectedness of all life. It is the first book to make explicit the invisible connections between our meals and our broad range of problems—psychological, cultural, and spiritual, as well as health and environmental. Dr. Tuttle offers powerful ways of understanding our culture, our shared history, and ourselves that lead to healing and peace and contribute to a positive transformation of human consciousness.

Lecture 3: Beyond Happy Meat and Dairy
As people become more aware of the extreme cruelty to animals required by meat, fish, dairy products, and eggs, industries are working hard to create a new image: that animal-sourced foods can be healthy, sustainable, and virtually cruelty free. We will examine the realities of animal agriculture, and the implications of these efforts to relieve the public’s conscience, as well as the cultural and environmental effects of animal-sourced foods. Join Dr. Tuttle for an empowering exploration of our culture’s core assumptions, attitudes, and practices, and the liberating power of compassionate living.

Lecture 4: The Joyful Traveling Vegan
As veganism continues to spread throughout our culture, it is helping to facilitate a beneficial transformation that heals the deep wounds of our society’s psyche. Join Dr. Will Tuttle and Madeleine Tuttle for a fascinating exploration of how we can apply the principles of The World Peace Diet in our daily lives, especially while we are traveling and at work, and navigating the kinds of tricky social situations we may find ourselves in as people who are practicing conscious eating. Vegans for 30 years, Will & Madeleine have been living full-time on the road for fifteen years in their solar-powered RV, and will share tips and insights not only on being conscious in an unconscious culture, but also on how to build conscious community wherever we are, so that we feel less isolated.

Lecture 5: The Metaphysics of Food
This presentation will explore the healing power of food and the importance of our attitudes while preparing and eating food, focusing on the metaphysical dimensions of food, eating, agriculture, and food production. Some of the ideas presented and discussed will be from the chapter “The Metaphysics of Food” from Dr. Tuttle’s book, The World Peace Diet. We will look at the vibrational nature of reality as revealed through modern physics and ancient wisdom traditions, and explore the vibrational implications of our food choices. We will also consider food and nourishment as vibratory in the form of air, water, nature, music, art, media, relationship, and spiritual experience

Class: Morning Meditation
Meditation is the art of cultivating inner stillness and clarity, and is one of the healthiest activities we can engage in. Join Dr. Will Tuttle for morning meditation sessions in silence, combined with short teachings about the path of meditation and practical ways we can deepen our practice and bring greater peace and joy into our lives. This class is equally open to beginning and more seasoned practitioners.
