Macrobiotics 101 Lecture Series
Whether you are just starting macrobiotics or have been practicing for many years, you will benefit from the ideas presented in this 2-part series of classes. They are designed to clarify some of the key aspects of practicing macrobiotics and help you get the most out of your effort.
Lecture 1: Macrobiotics 101 Part 1
Why is Macrobiotics not just another vegetarian diet? The number of people embracing the macrobiotic way of life has grown steadily over the years due in large part to the benefits so many people have received. The image that macrobiotics has had of just being a brown rice, miso soup and steamed kale diet has also shifted as well. There are numerous unique aspects to the macrobiotic approach that make it so effective in promoting health and harmony in day to day life. Warren will clarify those distinctions in this first lecture comparing macrobiotics to the vegetarian diet.
Lecture 2: Macrobiotics 101 Part 2
"I thought I was healthy!" Understanding how illness develops from a macrobiotic perspective. We don't go from one day being healthy to the next day having a chronic or degenerative illness. All illness follows an orderly progression that is important to understand in order for us to guide our own lives. Many people truly feel that they are health conscious and are in touch with their bodies yet struggle with their health. At the foundation of macrobiotic healing is this understanding of what is health and how illness progresses. Understanding these principles we have the tools to create our health and a dynamic life.
Lecture 3: Straight Bowel Talk
Everything you wanted to know about healthy elimination and more! The process of life is taking in and getting rid of what we don't use or need. If we can't eliminate what we don't utilize, health problems develop that are both physical and emotional in nature. We will discuss what in fact we "consume" day to day, diagnosing digestive problems, what is healthy and normal elimination, as well as food, remedies and self-healing techniques to improve digestion.
Lecture 4: Myths, Misconceptions and Common Mistakes in Macrobiotic Practice
Countless numbers of people worldwide have received great benefit from practicing a macrobiotic way of life. At the same time, there is great misunderstanding within macrobiotic practice. Warren will clarify many of the misconceptions that have surfaced over the years. In addition, he will point out the common mistakes people make and how to avoid them. This will help you get the most out of your macrobiotic practice.
Lecture 5: Good Food, Good Mood: The Relationship Between Our Emotions and the Health of our Organs
Many cultures throughout the world have long understood the connection between the health of the internal organs and emotions that correspond to them. In fact, as people improve their health certain negative emotions like irritability and anger become positive emotions like calmness and contentment. Warren will explain how the condition of our organs and our food choices greatly influence the type and quality of our emotions. Anger, fear, anxiety and pessimism are some of the emotions to be discussed.
Lecture 6: Fifty Ways to Love Your Liver
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the liver governs a woman's body as well as influences men's prostate health. Stagnation in the liver leads to a host of health issues including: irregular and painful menstruation, PMS, fibroids, breast health issues, eye problems, headaches, joint pain, irritability and many other common health concerns in modern society. Warren will discuss: how to diagnose liver health, lifestyle factors to support the liver, specific food and natural remedies which nourish this vital organ. Your liver will be happy you attended this class!
